Do Your Research!

A lesson from Jerry DeFina all those years ago:

Students each chose a monument to research and make a model of. One of the Mod Quad students chose the Eiffel Tower. Research tools weren’t as visually accessible then as they are now, but even the brightest of students still looked for short-cuts. I guess that’s human nature.
So one of his students finished her model, except for the painting part. She asked him what color the tower was.
Deeming the question absurd, he offered a smart aleck response: The Eiffel Tower is pink. It is a bright, flamboyant, neon pink.
She believed him. The next day, she came back with a shiny pink model.
Don’t believe something just because someone tells you so, he declared. Do your research.
This applies to more than just model monuments.
